Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare - Storyline
Twelfth Night is like all the comedies of Shakespeare a play about love. The main characters are two twins, Viola and Sebastian, who are separated from each other after a shipwreck.
Alone in the world as a girl, Viola tries to play the role of a man. She becomes the trusted servant of the ruler of the country Illyria , Orsino and falls in love with him. But Orsino has already lost his heart to another woman, Olivia. To Viola he entrusts the task to win Olivia for him by declaring her his love. Viola tries to fulfill her task. But Olivia doesn't want to hear anything about marriage. While they are talking Olivia falls in love with Viola, because she thinks that Viola is a young man. From then on it's all getting really complicated....
Olivia's drunken uncle, Sir Toby Belch, his friend, and Olivia's servants are all plotting against the uptight steward of the household, Malvolio. They convince him that Olivia is in love with him, but they don't mean it very seriously…
In the end it all clears up. When Violas twin brother meets them, Viola reveals herself as a woman and she and Orsino become a happy couple while Olivia can marry her beloved Sebastian.
